Our Story

Our Story

SocialNext: Ottawa is the Ottawa-based counterpart to SocialWest, SocialEast, SocialPacific, and SocialNext: Toronto, forming a series of Canada’s premier digital marketing conferences.

Now entering its ninth year, SocialWest brings together 850 digital marketers and communications professionals in Calgary, Alberta, annually.

SocialEast, held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has grown to host over 500 attendees each year. SocialPacific in Vancouver and SocialNext: Toronto further extend our reach across the country. In January 2025, SocialNext: Ottawa will debut at Bayview Yards, welcoming more than 300 attendees for its inaugural event.

SocialWest was founded in 2016 by Mike Morrison, an entrepreneur who saw a gap in professional development for Canadians in digital marketing and social media. Although no longer based in Canada, Mike’s vision for high-quality speaker engagement and exceptional attendee experiences remains at the core of each event. This dedication to excellence, paired with an all-star lineup of speakers and unique experiential offerings, continues to distinguish the SocialNext series as leaders in the industry.
